RUTLEDGE, Ga. -- In his first-ever tournament for the Reinhardt College men's golf team, Chris Cartwright claimed medalist honors at the Eagles' opening event of the 2008-09 season, the 3rd Annual Piedmont College Fall Invitational at The Creek Golf Course at Hard Labor State Park.

On Monday, Cartwright shot an opening-round 70 on the par-72, 6481-yard layout before coming back with 73 on Tuesday to finish at one-under-par 143, winning the tournament by two strokes. The sophomore from Cartersville, Ga., is a transfer from NCAA Division II Clayton State University.

As a team, Reinhardt ended as the tournament runner-up at 601, just three shots behind host Piedmont.
