Southern States Athletic Conference

Reinhardt College's Kathy Thornton, a 5-foot-11 senior middle hitter from Woodstock, Ga., has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Thornton, who is No. 8 in the NAIA in blocks per game with a 1.79 average, helped the Eagles win three of five matches and even their season record at 4-4.

Reinhardt defeated Oglethorpe University, Millsaps College and Belhaven College before losing to Spring Hill College and East Texas Baptist University. Thornton had 59 kills in 17 games. She picked up four assists and registered 52 digs. She averaged 1.24 blocks per game (21 total) and added seven blocking assists.
