SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Berry women's golf team shaved four strokes off it's day-one total with a 326 in the second round to move into a tie for 10th place at the NAIA National Championship Tournament. The Lady Vikings have a two-day total of 330-326=656 at the 5,961-yard, par-72 course at the Lake San Marcos Golf Course. The team improved significantly with it's second round performance after sitting in a tie for 18th after the opening-round of play.
 
Jayne Curtis remained in the top-20 at the event with an 82 in the second round. She has a two-day total of 76-82=158. Amy Goble had the best round of the day on the Berry team with a round of 78 to give her a two-day total of 83-78=161 to put her in a tie for 30th at the tournament.
Callie Bennett fired a second, consecutive round of 84 to give her a total of 84-84=168. Gwen Wiencek shot a round of 82 to finish with a score of 87-82=169 after the first two rounds. Elizabeth Gemmill rounded out the Berry team with a round of 87 to finish with a two-round score of 91-87=178.
 
Currently, British Columbia holds the lead at the tournament with a score of 318-312=630. Embry Riddle and Oklahoma Christian are tied for second with a score 633 after two rounds. Embry Riddle's Tara Allen leads the tournament with a score of 76-74=150. Shorter is also in the tournament is currently in 13-place with a score of 661.
 
Berry, the No. 2-ranked team in the nation, will continue the tournament tomorrow with the third round of the event. The NAIA National Tournament lasts from May 20-23 over four rounds.
