Auburn-Montgomery Lady Senators captured the 2008 NAIA Women's Tennis
National Championship by defeating Fresno Pacific 5-1 Friday.
The win marks Auburn-Montgomery's fifth straight championship, including three in a row over Fresno Pacific, and ninth overall.

Auburn-Montgomery jumped out to a 4-1 lead and looked like they would run away with the crown, but the Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific kept clawing away and made a match of it. The Senators took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by scores of 8-6 and 8-5, respectively and that set the stage for a crucial doubles match for the Sunbirds.

announced on Thursday that the Shorter College softball Lady Hawks team
was selected as the National Winner of the Buffalo Funds Five Star NAIA
Champions of Character Award winner. This is one of the NAIA's most
prestigious awards and the first time that any Shorter team has won.
